When you talk about deep stories...

This is a story that I wish Tui would release faster but at the same time I wish he took his time working on it. The deep story and character development is something to take note of. He used the fantasy world of Royal Road to create something completely different from what you would expect. First off, its written in first person, limiting you to the vision and knowledge of the main character. Suffice to say, he uses the advantages of it to the max. Its not a simple thing to surprise me but, in more than one opportunity, this fiction have done it. Its not simply unexpected plot twists. They are carefully build up but take you by surprise even so. The writing is somewhat plain but its pleasant and fits the story. Its what you'd expect a story told by the MC to be told. As I said before, the character development is something impressive. At times they're overly shonen characters but there are obviously reasons for it. The other times, you see the madness of the characters reflected in their thoughts and actions. Its truly amazing. Overall, its something you must read.

Why is this not on the best rated list?

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised that such a story could be found on this site. I'm not saying that there are no good stories here, there are many. However, most of the stories here are generally lighthearted, and involve characters that usually have some kind of ass pull power that makes them far better than everyone else. This story doesn't.

The MC is far weaker than any other MC on this site, and the story is designed superbly around that fact.

All of the characters are well developed, and seem to actually exist in the story instead of just giving a reason for the MC to do stuff. The MCs mysterious background is obviously well designed (even if we don't know what it is  yet), and even the most minor characters have some presence in the story (like the girls when he was trying to acquire a date, even they had reasons as to why they were there, and what they were doing.)

The spelling & grammar are impeccable. I have not found any glaringly obvious mistakes, and nothing breaks my immersion.

The delivery style was great as well. The first person POV is a perfect way to tell this story, and the way she is portrayed really adds to the story.

Now, I really wanted to give the story a 5 when I caught up, but I had to give it a 4. This was because chapters 3 and 4 were very low points story-wise, and it almost felt like the story had two beginnings - the first on chapter 1, and the second on the intermission. By the time I got to A Gardener's Dirge, I was almost about to give up on the story, as it felt like it would just turn into another generic story where the weak hero does some quest that makes him special, and then goes on to become the "opps I sneezed and destroyed your city" guy. I couldn't be more wrong.

I feel like I'm being unfair to the story to take of points because of a singular low point (which was probably intended), but I still choose to give it a 4. Otherwise, the psychological conflicts through out the whole story are perfectly implemented. This is one of the few stories that actually deserve a Psychological tag.

This should have more views

A really amazing FF, the story is deep, and  the MC plesently insane~

His phobia and inner turmoil are clearly presented in the story and his actions, yet the true reason behind them remains uncovered , giving the story a mysterious feel and the MC his insanity trait

The RR setting is used as the background theme and that’s all it is, it’s a little sobering after reading so many FF that specialized in tables and stats, but good in its own way

A slightly dark story that can make you question yourself  about human nature

Can't wait to read the end :)

I actually really dislike Ranthus

I can't believe I dislike that ratfaced asshole. I usally just think: 'ok, thats the bad guy'. With him it's different he is just so mean and he doesn't even have much facetime in the story.

The characters in the story are just great. Everyone in the story has a special personality. Sometimes I forgot this story plays in royalroad, but then she reminds me it does (kinda creepy, bro).

Looking forward to the next chapters B~)

Powerful Story. A Must Read.

Fantastic story. Finally someone that understands that stories can't only be about monsters and levels and cares to create a story instead of just pulling from a hat quests( i'm not saying i dislike action). The grammar is well over the standard and while there were a few typos nothing that could really interrupt the reading. One of the strong points of this story is the well devised plot with the hidden past of the MC, flashbacks, the sudden twists  but i would say the most relevant is really the character: you managed to build a real character with real thoughts and fears haunted by guilt and voices (i really liked this thing) and an interesting background. The side-characters too are not at all shallow although there's  still room for "improvement" ( especially for Cur). Liked how the NPCs finally did not came as stereotypical or dumb, which i assure you it's not a rare occurrence.

Insanity is an awful mistress. But his... well is an annoying one I guess. This is a good story as it stands away from what is mostly found here. The character is interesting and leaves open enough direction to go anywhere. His being weak is well founded and part of his character. I've read up to chapter 10 at this point in recommending. I'll say it's far more interesting then some of the top tier garbage like No longer a Game and it's just as interesting as Life In The New World. Crazy characters aren't seen often often and this one looks good so far. I look forward to seeing more.

Not my cup of tea but good nonetheless

A weak MC, not weak willed but weak physically with no determination except to be justice-senpai.

now thats the mc i don't want because they are illogical. For me atleast, no sane person would just continue to help people in need. Even me, i may have a day where i wanted to help but such days are rare most days i just want to get by on my own and have a peaceful life.

Justice-senpai MCs are just unrealistic tbh. Too unrealistic for my taste and its too predictable.

And him being scared of blood even makes it more of a chore to read this, he is weak and scared of blood. I don't see how this novel can give me what we all want, action; without relying too much on mere luck.

Also, the main reason why this type of novel dont get to the top because of the problems stated above, may take a while for the MC to mature and face the real world and be dependable. As for this MC. He's not only weak and has a phobia that will hinder him to play a game where most of it involves slaying monsters, he might aswell just play sims city and him being the illogical justice-senpai that he is.

Meh, it will take atleast 30-40 chapters for this type of mc to mature and that's the normal pace. If you can create a catalyst for this mc that is believable and feasible, maybe 20-30 chapters. Even then, i don't think anyone would wait that long, seeing as this fanfic hasnt been updated for quite a long time.

And guys, this is why fanfics like this will never be successful because they take the kind of dedication real authors would put in real novels.

A Professional's Story

This story is arguably the best story on this site, on par with many professional writers out there. The metaphor of the Claret wine with blood, though not original, is masterfully done, the story is one of the few in this website that can actually make you feel. It's beautiful...
