The Godking's Legacy follows a delusional squirrel beastkin who receives (wait for it) the Godking's Legacy. Well, the Godking's sword anyway. And some training.

I think what makes this story so much fun to read, is that most of it is told from the perspective of Lucia, the squirrel-kin. She notices enough details to clue herself and the reader in on what's actually happening, but willfully ignores the implications of it. Every now and then we get a perspective change that more explicitly states what's actually going on. Sometimes, I have to wonder if Lucia knows how talented and powerful she actually is.

Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Either way, it's an entertaining read that makes (some) fun of the Wuxia/Xianxia genres.

Psychopathic Super Squirrel Girl

Officially my Favorite Author on Royal Road.

This story is so amazingly funny good that I can't give an unbiased review so none of my usual ratings, just check the stars.

The MC of this story is by far my favorite of all MCs of all stories with the exclusion of Kvothe from The King Killer series by Patrick Rothfuss (and he only wins because Mr. Rothfuss is a literary genius). She's a psychopath in a very literal definition, but she's a funny psychopath that we get to see the inner workings of. She absolutely thinks that there's nothing wrong with what she does, everything is everyone else's fault or responsibility. If this was dungeons and dragons she would definitely be Chaotic Neutral, just doing things to satisfy herself, her goals, or because something seems like a good idea at the time.

She's the best.

You can't do this to me!!!!! Don't leave me on such a huge cliff!!!! Evil!!!

Great Story to binge (Vol1)

Started reading this story at 1 AM, as I wanted to go to sleep after a few chapters. Ended up binge reading it til 8 AM, when I finished the last chapter of Volume 1.

Some minor spoilers.

Overall really great story, gives you a few different viewpoints on the world, with vastly different viewpoints. One of the few Royalroadl stories I legitimately found myself laughing to every couple of chapters due to the hilarious nature of some of the situations or the way some characters thought.

Characters are all pretty good, although near the end of volume 1 some of the situations seemed a bit too hasty, and kind of stifled character narrative. In particular Durandal and Lucia seemed a bit stifled, as Durandal didn't really get much exposure, while Lucia kind of just blunt forced through everything.

Story suffers from the same part at the end, as it just seems a bit too hasty near the end of volume 1, otherwise it was great for the most part. Pacing can be a bit of an issue at times as well, as some parts are lightning fast, while other parts (more near the beginning) are a tad slow.

Style gives us different viewpoints from I think about 6 characters, although some of them are rather short. Keeps the story well rounded quite well, as we see the world from different perspectives constantly. Some funny, some serious, some paranoid, etc.

Grammar, in my hasty reading I might have missed some errors, but overall the author is obviously quite fluent in english, and makes little to no mistakes in this book from what I saw.

Definitely deserving a read for basically any RRL readers!

A fairly entartaining adventure/comedy book with overpowered MC. However, I don't think I've ever read a book with MC more disgusting than in here. She's dumb, dismissive about everything that isn't her and hers, falsely self-righteous, self-delusional, greedy and bossy. I guess author emulated thought process and character development of a simpleton quite well? I'm not sure why anyone would want that as a main character however.

I feel dirty reading this, but it's a fine story

I hate but also enjoy this story at the same time. On one hand, it's fun at times and there are some characters that I like, as well as some plotlines that have true potential. On the other hand, the main character is horrible, and while sometimes it can be funny it usually leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth and feelling dirty. I wish the author gave her at least some redeeming qualities, but unfortunately she is a liar, bandit, murderer, and sadist. However, I can live with that. What really bugs me is her continued denial that she is a good person. It's infuriating and I now hate the main character, which makes it hard to like the story. The only reason the character score isn't half a star is because I like some of the other characters, but again they are overshadowed by Lucia. It isn't fun to read about the adventures of a monumental idiot for several hundred pages. It may be a fun joke at the beginning, but there has been no character growth and it's tiresome.

Short version: Has some great potential at times, but it's totally destroyed by the main character's continued insistence that she is a good person despite the senseless horrible things she does, and it's hard to like a story when you hate the main character. She is literally my least favorite main character from any story I've ever read.

P.S. This is my personal opinion. Other people seem to like it. If you read Demon's Journey and liked it then you'll like this book as well.

Too Much Gore and Transmitting Content

MC is typical hero character who believes in her own narrative and any opposing views is considered idiocy or injured (killed but MC doesn't think herself as killer so they'll regenerate or come back to life later).

MC is a psychotic squirrel girl who imagines herself as good while extorting, pillaging, killing innocents for random reasons or greed, everything goes as she considers herself as a weak girl trying to survive at the cost of billions of innocent lives. Hitler, Stalin and Mao are cute when compared to her.

5 stars. 5 stars everywhere. "The best story ever." "A must read."- majority of reviews here.

Now I don't claim I'm a professional reviewer or something like that, but this is a no-no. In a review you must criticise a book, expose it's flaws, say your own opinion, not just praise it for what it is not.

Now, onto the actual review.

So we have the premise of the story, a not so normal demihuman ( a very overused trope, them being humans with ears and tails of animals, lack of imagination this is -.-) who gets the legacy of the world's greatest "hero" and then proceeds to hijink around. It's ok from this point and to a certain moment.

All of this author's stories seem to be a blend of light-hearted comedy and dark humour. Which is ok. What it's not okay is the lack of character progression. The squirrel starts as a homicidal psycho and as far as I've read she stays that way. And the self denial. Oh the self denial. "I'm a good person. Just give me that or I'll kill you. And I'll cut off some of your fingers just to make sure you'll do it" *innocent squirrel girl smile* ( not a part of the story, just a generalisation). So yeah, this is what made me drop this story. He MC is completely unlikeable, unless you're a psycho (I don't judge).

The story is the same repetition of the same things over and over. MC kills stuff, eats food, threatens people, kills more stuff and eats more food. While pretending she does it in the name of good. Totally ok? No. And this is why I can't understand why it's so popular....

Grammar is okay, style is the same as the other stories by this author.

I think 3 stars may seem too few to give to this " masterpiece", "this fun comedy and must read story". But no, I think it's too much even. The only saving grace of this story it's that it has good grammar and a somewhat interesting premise. Nothing more, nothing less.

P.S. I'm sure I have written another review on this but it's been deleted. Hmm

P.S.S. if I see this review deleted as well, we'll see what happens.

The Mad Squirrel with a Sword.

We start with the slow cultivation story of a squirrel beastkin under the cliche spirit teacher from the previous era.

After not even 15 chapters, we have a mad swordsman forged by a path of slaughter, the fact that her white dress is not only red from blood, but it seems a red dress dirty from blood, is clear sign of her unrelenting way.

I extremelly appreciate that even the story becomes fast, faster and faster, maniacally so.

The history of a delusional, bloody , perverted squirrel is all I didn't know I needed.

There is only one review for this amazing story ?

One sentence to describe it: a realy fun comedy with amazing characters.

The only downside: sometimes the story is a bit slow (ex: the training with Durendal seems loooong to me.), and sometimes it's too fast...

If you like the other stories from Virlyce you will probably love this one too.

I greatly enjoyed reading this. Lucia, the squirrel-kin, is one of the better main characters I've read. It all started out somewhat normally, then  it took a completely unexpected direction, and it just went completely bonkers from there. Very well written.
